About Lantana
If you like water, you like the beach, and you like fishing, Lantana might be ideal. This town has an 8-acre beach with over 800 feet of shoreline. And Lantana plays an active role in a rich history. It was originally a stop along the famous mail carrier's beachfront route called the "Barefoot Mailman". This refers to the first US mail route from 1885 to 1892 between Palm Beach and the settlements along Lake Worth, Miami, Coconut Grove, and Lemon City. Approximately 28 miles of a one-way trip was completed by rowing different boats and walking along the sand to deliver the mail. Of course, today we have a more modern mode of transportation but the spirit of history remains the same.
Schools
There are 11 schools in Lantana, all part of the Palm Beach County school district. In addition to a couple of elementary schools, a middle school, and high school, Lantana also has an adult education center, the Palm Beach Maritime Academy high school, and the Palm Beach School for Autism.
Why Love Lantana?
Love fish? Fishing? Boating? Or just that small-town feel with the added perks of living on the beach? These are just some of the many reasons to love Lantana. We have great food, hidden gems, a vibrant Parks and Recreation department with several different types of parks including the Bicentennial Park, fishing pier, the nature preserve, and a recreation center and the unique town of Hypoluxo, an island between the peninsula and the mainland. This is technically its own little town with a population of under 3000 but is sometimes referred to as part of Lantana. This little island is solely a residential community with homes on both sides and nearly all waterfront.
