Gulf Stream History

While history may not be everything,, Gulf Stream has a unique history. It started back in 1916 when the state created a stretch of roadway along the Atlantic Ocean coastline is a more scenic alternative to route 1. The road became known as State Road A1A but because there were such high winds along the route Australian Pines were planted on both sides from Jacksonville to Miami. The town of Gulf Stream is the only remaining stretch where this pine canopy still exists. It's been designated as a historic and scenic Highway allowing the town to protect and cultivate new plants to maintain a stretch of nearly 300 pine trees to this day.

Schools

Residents with school-age children are part of the Palm Beach County school district and are primarily served by the Plumosa Schools of the Arts, the Carver middle school, and the Atlantic high school.

Real Estate

As we mentioned before, this is one of the highest income locations not just in the state but in the country. The median income is $213,000 with the median home price of $1.8 million. The town has been home to notable people such as Christopher O'Hair, Kevin Anderson, Robert Kraft, and Tomas Maier. Most of the town sits on the east side of the Intracoastal Waterway literally surrounding the golf club. On the north end of the town is the Little Club golf course, which borders St. Andrews Club and the Gulfstream Park and the town border ends in the South along George Bush Blvd. Because the town is so small and most homes are waterfront, home prices start at about $900,000 on up. The golf course literally stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Goals Stream in nearly every home is waterfront in some capacity.
